Maison Odile

Weddings photographed on medium format film, for couples who would rather have forty perfect prints than four thousand files.

I — Philosophy

“On film, by hand, and never in a hurry.”

Maison Odile was founded in 2011 by Odile Marchand, a former fashion assistant who fell in love with the slowness of medium format. Every wedding is photographed by Odile herself, with one assistant and never more than eighteen rolls.

We work quietly, mostly in natural light, and we edit as a printer would: choosing, not collecting. What you receive is a gallery to keep and a box of hand-made prints to hold — the way your grandparents’ photographs still are.

III — On film

Why we still shoot film.

Film forgives skin, holds white silk without losing it and renders greenery the colour you remember. It also asks us to slow down — every frame is a decision, and you can feel that in the photographs.

“Odile was barely there, and yet she saw everything. When the box of prints arrived, my mother cried before she had opened the second envelope.”
